At Foster Hearts, volunteers are the heart of everything we do. Whether you're stocking the store, leading a collection drive, sharing your professional skills, or helping create magic at our holiday events, there’s a place for you here. Every year, over 70 incredible volunteers come together to log more than 900 hours of service—and we couldn’t do it without them!

Most volunteer opportunities happen at the Foster Hearts Store or during special events, and every role plays a part in lifting up foster youth. When you volunteer with us, you’re not just giving your time—you’re joining a community that believes every child deserves support, dignity, and hope.

Group Volunteering

Bring Your Team and Make an Impact!
Looking for a meaningful way to bring your team together? We partner with businesses, schools, and community groups to create fun, hands-on volunteer experiences that build teamwork and make a real difference for foster youth. Interested in getting involved? We'd love to hear from you!

Groups are also encouraged to organize donation drives or make a financial gift to help fuel the work of Foster Hearts. Together, we can turn teamwork into lasting impact!

Eligibility

We’re excited you're thinking about volunteering with Foster Hearts! Here’s what you need to know:

• Volunteers must be at least 13 years old and accompanied by an adult.

• All volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver when they arrive at the Foster Hearts Store or at any event (events when children are present need a background check also.

• To volunteer at the Foster Hearts Store, you’ll need to fill out an application and complete a background check.

• Heads up: We receive a high volume of volunteer interest. While we try our best to fit everyone in, it may take a little time.

Our Commitment to Equity in Volunteering

At Foster Hearts, kids are always at the center of what we do. We know that the foster care system has a long history of inequity, and today, African American, Native American, and LGBTQIA+ youth are still overrepresented. That’s why it’s so important to us that our volunteers reflect the youth we serve and help create a community where every child feels seen, valued, and supported.
