About Us

Foster Hearts is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2020, dedicated to enriching the lives of children in foster care by providing essential resources, support, and opportunities. Our mission is to ensure that every child in foster care has access to the clothing, supplies, and experiences they need to thrive. Based in Washington State, we proudly serve children across Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, Island, and San Juan counties.

Through the Foster Hearts Store, children and youth can shop free of charge for essentials like clothing, shoes, and bedding. We also provide Care Kits for children entering foster care, offering comfort and dignity during a critical transition. At Foster Hearts, we believe every child deserves a supportive and positive environment to help them succeed in school, life, and beyond. With the help of our volunteers, donors, and community partners, we are making a lasting impact—fostering hope, confidence, and resilience in every child we serve.

Mission

Our mission at Foster Hearts main mission is to ensure that foster children have access to essential items like clothing, bedding, hygiene products, and school supplies.

In Washington

Every year, thousands of children enter the foster care system in Washington State due to abuse, neglect, or family instability. These youth face significant challenges but also incredible opportunities when provided with the right support. A few key facts:

  • Over 7,500 children are in foster care across Washington State on any given day.

  • About 40% of youth in foster care are under the age of five.

  • One in five foster youth will experience homelessness within a year of aging out of care.

  • Foster youth are twice as likely to struggle academically compared to their peers.

  • Less than 50% of foster youth graduate from high school on time.
